What's new on EVz
Maintained by the EVz Editorial Team · last updated 29 July 2026 · how we verify
This is EVz's public change log: every new tool, verification update, data refresh and policy change, dated so you can see exactly how current the data you're reading is. It is separate from our corrections log - corrections mean we published something wrong and fixed it; this page tracks how the catalogue, the market and the site move. Most recent change: 29 July 2026.
July 2026
In July 2026, EVz logged 17 new tools, 2 verification updates, 1 data refresh.
- Verification Karnataka road tax: Karnataka's e-car lifetime tax record upgraded to the primary source: Karnataka Act 29 of 2026 (Motor Vehicles Taxation Amendment), gazetted 10 April 2026, with the 5/8/10% slabs confirmed verbatim on vehicle cost. The XUV400 real-world range source now points to the original instrumented test article.
- New tool Editorial: Published the Editorial page: how EVz is edited, with every number computed live from the site's own record - models tracked, tests verified, public corrections, published formulas - and the standards and refusals in writing. Every 'EVz Editorial Team' byline sitewide now links to it.
- New tool Owner reports: Model pages now carry moderated owner reports: real full-charge range plus ownership context (months owned, daily use, charging setup, what held up and what to warn a buyer about). Human-reviewed before publishing, shown as owner-reported community data, never blended into tested figures or the EVz Score.
- New tool Real Range Truth: The range-gap flagship is now interactive: pick any independently tested EV and watch the claim collapse to the measured figure. The dataset is downloadable as CSV under CC BY 4.0 with a suggested citation, and every tested model has a free share card.
- New tool Cost Atlas: The subsidies hub gained the India EV Cost Atlas: every state and UT as a tile, coloured by what it actually does to an EV's on-road price (waiver plus cash, waiver, reduced, or a levy), with per-state numbers on tap.
- New tool EV Policy Watch: Launched EV Policy Watch: the dated reference log of every India EV incentive change - Karnataka's lifetime tax, lapsed state waivers, PM E-DRIVE cuts and the notified deadlines ahead - each traced to its sourced state entry. Built to be cited.
- New tool Owner Connect: Launched Owner Connect, the customer directory: verified owners enroll per model, buyers ask questions on the model page, EVz relays and publishes the answers - no contact details shared in either direction, everything human-moderated.
- New tool Payback Clock: The break-even page is now interactive: pick any tested EV, set your daily km, and the dial shows how long the premium over a named petrol vehicle takes to repay - plus downloadable payback share cards per model.
- New tool Used EVs: Launched the used-EV pillar: a verification-first buying checklist with saved progress, a buyer's battery-health guide covering the four checks that actually exist in India today, and the honest economics of deep used-price discounts with no subsidy on resale.
- New tool EVz Score: Launched the EVz Score: a 0-10 rating computed transparently from catalogue data - real range basis (never the raw claim), value against price-band peers, and a data-confidence component that rewards verification. Full formula published on the how-we-verify page.
- New tool EV glossary: Published the EV glossary: every term an Indian buyer meets - ARAI vs real-world range, kWh, LFP vs NMC, DC fast charging, on-road price, PM E-DRIVE and more - defined in plain language with links to the live data behind each concept.
- New tool Running cost hub: Added a running-cost hub linking the per-segment cost-per-km rankings, charging cost, break-even and E20 pages in one place; e-cycles are quoted a cost per full charge rather than a misleading petrol comparison.
- New tool Removable-battery scooters: Published the removable-battery list as a live catalogue query - every scooter and motorcycle sold with a carry-indoors battery, ranked by price - replacing the earlier hand-curated list.
- New tool Fastest EV in India: Published the top-speed statistics page: claimed top speed ranked by segment with published motor power alongside, every figure labelled claimed, e-cycles excluded by their regulatory 25 km/h cap.
- New tool Tools hub: Collected every EVz tool on one page - the advisor, comparison builder, on-road price and subsidy finders, savings and swap calculators, charging-fit checker and the real-world range database.
- New tool Battery swapping: Added the battery-swapping network layer - seven India networks compared - with an honest swap-vs-own running-cost calculator that shows the running premium against the upfront battery you skip.
- New tool Dealers & test rides: Launched Dealer Connect: official test-ride and store-locator deep-links for six electric-two-wheeler brands across ten metros, with per-brand and per-city pages.
- New tool EV insurance: Published the EV insurance scorecard, ranking nine insurers by their incurred claim ratio (FY24-25) alongside EV-specific add-ons and cashless-garage coverage.
- Data refresh EV subsidies by state: Refreshed the state EV-subsidy dataset. Each state page shows the exact policy 'as of' date and its government source; lapsed schemes correctly compute a zero benefit.
- Verification Real-world range vs ARAI: Published the real-world-range-vs-ARAI database: every tracked EV's independently tested real-world range set against its ARAI claim, so the gap is visible before you buy.
