Why some EVs are cheaper to run than others

Running cost per km is electricity price divided by real-world efficiency (km/kWh). A more efficient EV squeezes more kilometres from each unit, so it costs less to run regardless of battery size. Weight, aerodynamics and motor tuning all matter - which is why a light scooter can be five to seven times cheaper per km than a large electric SUV, even though both run on the same electricity. Every figure here uses real-world efficiency, so it reflects what you actually get, not the optimistic ARAI claim.
