A full home charge equals the battery size times your electricity tariff. At Rs 8/kWh domestic power, that is about Rs 25 for a typical electric scooter and up to about Rs 976 for the largest electric-car batteries; an electric cycle costs as little as Rs 1.

What a full charge costs, by segment
Because a full charge is simply battery size times your tariff, cost scales almost perfectly with vehicle size. A light electric scooter holds 2-4 kWh, so it sips power; an electric car carries 25-90 kWh, so it costs many times more per charge - but still far less than an equivalent tank of petrol. Context
Home vs public charging vs swapping
The figures above assume home charging at a domestic tariff (~Rs 8/kWh), which is how most Indian EV owners charge. Public DC fast chargers are the convenience option and cost materially more - commonly Rs 18-24/kWh, two to three times the home rate - so a car that costs Rs 504 to fill at home can cost double on the highway. Battery swapping (for scooters and three-wheelers) is priced per swap or by subscription rather than per unit, and buys away the wait and the upfront battery cost; see the battery-swapping guide for that trade-off.
Figures exclude charging losses (~10-15%) and any fixed monthly slab charges on your electricity bill.

How we calculate it
Full-charge cost = battery capacity (kWh) × Rs 8/kWh, the representative domestic tariff. Cost per 100 km uses each model's verified real-world efficiency (real-world range ÷ battery), and is shown only where that data exists - never a class-default guess. Models without a verified battery size are excluded.
